John Garland

Chief Operations Manager

 

John Manages all the logistics, finances and client relations.

John’s last management position was New York based COO of J. Walter Thompson – The largest advertising agency in the world.

Before advertising John was an internationally known film and TV producer – with credits ranging from Hollywood movies like Luc Besson’s “Leon – The Professional” with Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman to world famous TV commercials like British Airways “Face” wherein literally thousands of people make a huge face directed by Academy Award winner Hugh Hudson.

These twin backgrounds; The people skills of managing a large US global corporation combined with the logistics of producing films in over 50 countries around the world have contributed to an extremely strong ability to manage, both fiscally and operationally, events from the very simple to the very complex.

These skills he is bringing to coordinate the Lightscape offerings in an unparalleled user friendly and cost efficient way. 

 

David Smith

Creative Director

 

David works with clients to conceive the best lighting opportunities and solutions for their properties.

David has spent over 30 years working at the forefront of the photography and film directing fields in London, New York, Sydney and Europe.

His keen creative eye brings the ability to find the most interesting creative opportunities to meld with our clients needs. Finding the most striking and visually stunning ideas that differentiates what we can do from our competition.

Richard Garland

Head Landscape Lighting Designer

 

Richard’s background is as a movie cameraman trained in transforming the lighting of film sets and locations to create the atmosphere the script has required.

His credits include major movies working with directors like Sir Ridley Scott, Sir David Lean, Ken Russell and Hugh Hudson.

It’s always important to hear what the director wants and in landscape lighting the director is the client.

His skills bring a filmic eye and knowledge of how to paint landscapes with light to create moods from the dramatic to the romantic.

Painting with light is a key creative component of Lightscape’s philosophy and is a differentiator for the company from most other types of garden lighting offerings.

Richard is also a certified master electrician and oversees the company’s rigid standards of compliance to code and safety regulations plus the qualifications certify all of our work.

 

Ulf Pedersen

Head Art Installations designer

 

Architectural in scale Ulf’s work transforms the act of looking into a physical experience.

To the guests delight at venues that he has worked with they frequently find themselves immersed in a sensational play of light and colour. And, almost as through a kind of light-based alchemy, an outdoor space metamorphoses into something unique and magical.

In addition to working closely with the raw materials of the site, he uses light and colour as his essential tools, often combining these natural or artificial elements with the new architectural forms he has designed. Ulf’s practice exploits both hi and lo-fi technologies and aims to highlight the poetic potential of place.

Ulf has also recently returned from creating displays at Arts Festivals in Sydney, Hong Kong, Hobart & Wellington with future plans to present events in Rio De Janeiro, San Francisco, Shanghai & Kunming.
